Accessing Banner of Truth Articles Electronically

The NRC Synod recently approved storing digital copies of Banner of Truth articles on the Dutch website Digibron (http://www.digibron.nl/).   Since the navigation of the site is quite difficult unless you know Dutch, we wanted to provide some instructions to help encourage our members to use this resource.  Following are recommendations for accessing past copies of Banner of Truth articles in electronic form.  This page is not intended to provide an exhaustive set of instructions, but rather to assist in locating items and navigating the site.

To use Microsoft Translator to view the site in English, go to: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=www.digibron.nl

Google Translate (via Google Chrome) may also be used to translate the site to English.

Note: When using either Microsoft or Google Translate, images that contain Dutch text will not be translated.

For example: The button that says:  is used as the English “Search”, but will not say “Search”, even when using a translated version of the website.

In addition, the sort and filter functions on the right hand side (by year, by author, etc.) as shown below do not work when using a translated version of the website. For this reason, the Dutch version seems to be more useful.

Site Navigation and Banner Search:

To find the Banner, select “uitgebreid zoeken” (Advanced Search):

Then check the box for “The Banner of Truth”, enter a keyword, article title, or other search text in the bar at the top, and select “Zoek” (Search). You may also leave the bar at the top blank to return all articles from the Banner.

Once the search results appear, you may use the filters at the right to further refine your search (by author, by year, sort oldest first or newest first, etc.). Some knowledge of Dutch is helpful (or trial and error may be required) since these filters do not work in the translated versions of the webpage.
